Volkswagen Tiguan vs Toyota RAV4

Volkswagen Tiguan

Toyota RAV4

Volkswagen Tiguan vs Toyota RAV4

  • The Tiguan is standard with a turbocharged engine, a feature you won't find on the Toyota RAV4 lineup at all. With this turbocharged engine, the Volkswagen SUV provides a maximum of 221 pound-feet of torque, far surpassing the output from the Toyota SUV (184 pound-feet of torque).
  • Both models offer optional all-wheel drive to improve your traction control when you take things off-road, but the 4MOTION® all-wheel drive on the Tiguan is a slightly more affordable package than the all-wheel drive setup from Toyota. You'll pay about $1,000 more for similar capability.
  • While the Toyota RAV4 performs efficiently both in the city and on the highway, it does so with a smaller gas tank than the Tiguan. The Volkswagen SUV needs to stop less often to fill-up than the Toyota model.
  • Passengers will find plenty of room to stretch out in the Volkswagen, as it has three rows of seats to offer you and your passengers. The Volkswagen has seven seats while the Toyota RAV4 limits you to five. Also, the Tiguan has over 120 cubic feet of passenger volume, while the RAV4 fails to top 100 cubic feet.
  • Depending on the model you prefer, the Volkswagen Tiguan can achieve a maximum cargo volume of 73.5 cubic feet, which surpasses the 69.8 cubic feet in the Toyota RAV4.
  • The luxurious interior of the Volkswagen has the option to upgrade to leather trim, improving your overall driving experience. The Toyota lineup doesn't offer leather trim at all.
  • Both models offer a variety of technology features, both convenient and helpful in your driving experience. Each one also provides standard and available driver assistance features, capable of keeping you aware of your surroundings with a system of alerts and notifications. The Volkswagen Tiguan comes standard with a Blind-Spot Monitor feature, something that is only available with the RAV4 lineup.

Volkswagen Tiguan vs Subaru Forester

Subaru Forester

Volkswagen Tiguan vs Subaru Forester

  • The Subaru Forester is equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque, which pales in comparison to the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine underneath the hood of the Volkswagen SUV. It delivers 184 horsepower and an impressive 221 pound-feet of torque.
  • Inside, you'll find quite a bit more room to enjoy inside the Volkswagen Tiguan. It offers three rows of seating to the two rows inside the Subaru Forester.
  • When you want your passengers to enjoy their personal space, you'll find 123.9 cubic feet of interior cabin space available to do just that. The smaller Subaru Forester comes close, but still fails to top 112 cubic feet of passenger space.
  • While the Subaru Forester can store quite a bit when you fold the seats down, carrying passengers and cargo is a whole other story. With five passengers, the Forester offers 35.4 cubic feet of storage space, while the Tiguan manages slightly more with 37.6 cubic feet of storage.
  • Convenience is the name of the game on the Volkswagen Tiguan, as it offers a hands-free Easy Open and Easy Close liftgate to help you access the cargo area when your hands are full. The Subaru Forester does offer a power liftgate, but not with the same convenience you'll find from the Tiguan's liftgate.
  • You can wirelessly charge your phone inside the Volkswagen Tiguan with its wireless phone charging. The Forester does not offer this same feature at all.
  • Both models offer stellar safety packages to help keep you and your passengers safe and sound while driving through heavy traffic or less than favorable road conditions. The Volkswagen Tiguan is standard with a Blind-Spot Monitor system, something you need to pay extra for on the Subaru Forester.

Volkswagen Tiguan vs Honda CR-V

Volkswagen Tiguan

Honda CR-V

Volkswagen Tiguan vs Honda CR-V

  • Both models come standard with a turbocharged engine, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the Volkswagen Tiguan and a 1.5-liter four-cylinder in the Honda CR-V. While the CR-V is very quick, it fails to match the power output from the Volkswagen Tiguan. The Tiguan offers 221 pound-feet of torque, much more than the 179 pound-feet of torque.
  • Honda offers an efficient ride with its midsize SUV, capable of stellar city and highway performance. But, it doesn't provide a large gas tank, managing only a maximum of 14.0-gallons, which is quite a bit less than the 15.9-gallon tank on the Tiguan.
  • LED headlights are available for both SUV models, but only the Tiguan enjoys an Adaptive Front-Lighting System, which turns with the curves of the road ahead. Honda doesn't offer a similar feature.
  • Both models offer plenty of room for your passengers to enjoy, but the Honda CR-V can only seat five passengers. The Volkswagen Tiguan makes sure to fit everyone inside, with seating configurations for five or seven passengers.
  • With the seven-passenger setup, the Tiguan manages an impressive 123.9 cubic feet of passenger space, almost 20 cubic feet more than the CR-V.
  • Seven passengers doesn't mean you won't have cargo space available. The Volkswagen Tiguan offers 12 cubic feet of storage when you have a full SUV; the Honda SUV can't even fit seven passengers safely, much less have seven passengers with cargo.
  • The Volkswagen Tiguan is standard with a 6.5-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ as part of its App-Connect setup. Honda offers a 7.0-inch touchscreen with the same features, but you need to choose a more expensive trim to unlock them.
  • The Honda CR-V comes standard with the Honda Sensing® package, offering the same suite of safety features that you can find with the Volkswagen Tiguan. However, the Blind-Spot Monitor system is standard on the Tiguan, a feature that alerts you when another vehicle is in your blind spot. Honda offers a similar feature, but not standard.
