The Volkswagen Arteon's looks are a bit of a contradiction in that they're both subtle and notable. Unlike the Volkswagen Jetta or Volkswagen Passat, the Arteon is a fastback sedan, and its differences stand out. So, what exactly is a fastback?

What sets a fastback apart from the pack is the sloping roofline that blends seamlessly into the rear, rather than coming down at an angle. This unique roofline creates a look that is both elegant and sporty, so you'll get the best of both worlds. Not to mention, it also helps the aerodynamics! Another difference between a sedan and a fastback is the placement of the window. When you open up a sedan's trunk, the back window is fixed, but on the fastback that glass comes up when you lift up the trunk, as they're the same piece.

For slightly more aggressive aesthetics, the Arteon has the available R-Line package. It has larger 19- or 20-inch wheels, R-Line bumpers, plenty of gloss-black accents, and R-Line branded seat backs.

Inside, the Arteon is cool, calm, collected, and sophisticated. You'll have a mix of touchscreen and LCD surfaces along with buttons and knobs. The Arteon has a standard 2.0L TSI® engine. The turbocharged power source has 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft torque. It's paired with an 8-speed transmission, and the DCC® adaptive chassis control encourages a more comfortable ride. You can further dial in your preferences with the Normal, Comfort, and Sport modes, and during the winter you'll appreciate that the Arteon has available 4MOTION® all-wheel drive for added traction.
