If you're a diesel fan, you can still purchase a used or Certified Pre-Owned Volkswagen turbocharged direct injection vehicle. If you're not familiar with the turbocharged direct injection engine or TDI engine, they are a design of turbodiesel engines featuring turbocharging and cylinder-direct fuel injection. At Tynan's Volkswagen, we have used and Certified Pre-Owned models that come powered by this engine option.
The vehicles equipped with TDI engines include the Volkswagen Beetle, Beetle Convertible, Golf hatchback and SportWagen, Jetta, and the Passat. These vehicles come equipped with the EA288 2.0-liter 4-cylinder TDI turbodiesel engine, which was used across the board in 2015 Volkswagen diesel cars to replace the diesel fitted to 2009-2014 models.
The 2015 TDI vehicles that are on the market now have been updated by using software modifications approved by the EPA and the California Air Resources Board. They now meet EPA emission standards for nitrogen oxide.

Diesel engines work differently than your ordinary gasoline engines. Rather than using spark plugs to ignite the fuel, diesel engine fuel is combined with compressed warm air to cause it to ignite - the high compression results in improved fuel economy over a regular powered gas engine. All in all, the TDI system results in more fuel being burned instead of wasted.
When it comes to Volkswagen extended warranty coverage, model year 2016 and earlier TDI vehicles come with a 2-year or unlimited mile comprehensive limited warranty. How's that for peace of mind?
